Separation of Children from Families:
Displacement caused by floods heightens the risk of children becoming separated from their families. The chaotic nature of evacuation, the disruption of routine, and the overwhelming circumstances contribute to the vulnerability of children.
Separation from their primary caregivers exposes children to various risks, including exploitation, abuse, and psychological distress. Urgent efforts are needed to identify and locate separated children, establish mechanisms for their protection, and facilitate their reunification with their families.
Gender-Based Violence (GBV):
Displacement and overcrowded conditions resulting
from wars increase the risk of GBV, particularly
affecting women and girls. The loss of privacy,
limited security measures, and increased tensions
In the last 2 days alone, 20 cases
(12 boys and 8 girls) of
unaccompanied (14) and
separated (6) children (UASC)
have been registered.
Additionally, 49 incidences (25
girls and 24 women) of GBV
were reported.
within displaced communities create an environment
conducive to GBV incidents.
It is crucial to address this issue promptly to safeguard the well-being and safety of women and girls. Measures such as establishing safe spaces, strengthening community
based protection mechanisms, and providing psychosocial support and specialized services for survivors of GBV are essential. FIGURE 2 KAXDA BANAANEY IDPS CAM
